Ryan's 30th Birthday

I'm a little behind in posting this since we've been out of town lately. On Aug.23rd, Ryan hit the big 3-0. He had been talking non-stop about flying a seaplane, so for his birthday he got to do just that.

Going over the pre-flight details with his instructor.

This pic is not very clear since it was really far away, but Ryan is flying that yellow speck.

I waited on the dock, praying for his safe return and keeping myself entertained by taking pictures of duck behinds.
He landed wonderfully!
Afterwards, we took dinner over to our friends' house to visit and play board games. It's easier if we go there since they have two little ones with early bedtimes.

Here is Ryan with his birthday cheesecake. I'd made this recipe once before, and he just loves it! Notice the t-shirt he got at the Kenmore Air place.

Job Readiness ESL

Thursday was my last day of teaching for Summer quarter. We had a class potluck and played games.

Here we are racing against the other team to get ourselves alphabetized by first names (these are beginning level students).
Here we're playing Four On a Couch--men against women.

There were about 8 students missing this day. This quarter's students were from Burma, Congo, Nepal, Ukraine, Russia, Iraq, and the Marshall Islands.

Tommy's 28th B-day

August 11th was Tommy's birthday. We headed up to mom's for a BBQ with the traditional ribs Tommy likes for his birthday. He made chocolate dipped strawberries that he learned how to do while working at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Mom made a super tasty carrot cake.

Cheese!

Big Island Part 3---Finally

Denny Creek Hike

Yesterday, Ryan, my brother Tommy, and I went to hike around Denny Creek. It's out I-90 off of exit 47. It was a great hike with wonderful weather. I was worried about one of us falling off the cliffs that the guys decided we should climb up. Thankfully, the worst of it was a bee sting I got on my upper forehead. Click on the picture below to be taken to more pictures of this hike.
