Slow Weekend

It was a slow weekend as far as excitement goes. Ryan was supposed to have a 3-day weekend, but on Friday afternoon he was informed that not only was he going to have to work Monday, but also Sat. & Sun. He has had to work a lot of weekends over the past couple of months. This is after working all week, Mon-Fri. We are excited about him getting out of the Navy in just over a month. It'll be quite a transition as he goes to school full-time and getting into the civilian world after 8 years in the military.

Friday during the day I was at the college teaching when we had to evacuate our classrooms for the 3rd time in the last 2 weeks from people calling in and threatening that there will be a shooting. It's pretty frustrating that students are there trying to learn and work hard and someone else gets a kick out of the perceived power that they have, getting the school to close down by their phone call. I know that we also don't want to take chances and treat it like merely a prank and be wrong. Please pray for protection for me and my students there.

Friday evening we had a nice bbq for my mom's birthday. On Saturday evening, we went for a quick hike around Squires Lake. Ryan always feels so much more refreshed when he's able to get out in "the woods". I also enjoy it. We saw a beaver swimming, but he was too far away to get a picture.

We found the beaver dam. I was hoping to see some babies, but no luck. I was amazed at how they chew the tree limbs into such sharp points. I hadn't been this close to a beaver dam before that I know of.

Not so exciting on the pics this week since we didn't get to play much together. I'll just give a more written update to make up for the lack of pics!! I've been accepted to both the Univ. of WA and Cornerstone University in Michigan to get my masters in teaching English as a Second Language. I'm planning to do the one through Michigan, which will start this summer, since it is all online except for 4 weeks split over the next two summers.

We're looking forward to the Sacred Marriage conference that we've been planning for our church which is on May 19th. We pray that it will strengthen all the marriages that attend. I guess that's the scoop for now! Below is a pic that I forgot to add last week and thought it was worth putting in now. : )
