Bali is one of the 17,508 islands (according to Wikipedia) that make up Indonesia. Indonesia is below China and Thailand and northwest of Australia--roughly. You may be more familiar with coffees bearing names such as Sumatra or Java. These are two of the larger islands of Indonesia. The yellow star on the map is where Bali is.
One fact that many don't seem to know is that Indonesia is the most populous Muslim nation. While Bali is predominately Hindu, the next island over that we also hope to visit is Lombok, which is mostly Muslim. We'll try to visit Lombok in the middle of our trip before Ramadan starts because we'd like to eat. For those unfamiliar with the month-long, Muslim Ramadan, it's a time of fasting from sun-up to sun-down. Many of the restaurants will likely be closed.

Please pray for safety and health for us on our trip, and also to have a connecting time as husband and wife. I will post "snippets" when I get a chance in internet cafes. We're not bringing a laptop, so I may not be able to post any pictures until we return. For now, we have about 28 hours of travel ahead of us from the time we leave our house until we will probably get to our hotel. I only have the first 3 nights there reserved since we plan to move around and will need to look for other places to stay. Our plane ride includes 12 hours from Seattle to Taipei. Then a 5 hour layover in Taipei, which isn't long enough to go anywhere. Then we'll have another 5 hours flight to Bali.
We come back in 3 weeks. No use breaking into our house; we won't be leaving any valuables here. : ) We're off to the airport in just a couple of hours. Ta-ta for now! : D
