Happy Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday. Even though I'm not technically "old", as of last year I decided that I didn't want to get any older. : P Oh well, you can't hold back the clock! I had to work, but it was still a nice b-day. Ryan made a cake for me. He added extra bits of dark chocolate to it and made the icing out of cool whip, trying to make something very unhealthy (cake) slightly lighter! I appreciated his creative efforts, even in his decorating with melted dark chocolate.

My day students had a surprise party for me which was fun and meaningful. They each brought snacks and even gave me a gift card. My mom surprised me during my night class by bringing cupcakes. That was fun. It was like being a kid in school and sharing your birthday goodies with your classmates (even though they were my students)! : )

It's also nice to get phone calls from family who are far away and e-cards and emails from friends. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it a nice birthday!
